Heavy rain and possible severe gales for central and northern New Zealand and the Chatham Islands
An active low pressure system over central and northern New Zealand today is expected to move to the east of the country on Thursday, and pass eastwards close to the Chatham Islands Thursday night and early Friday morning. The system is expected to bring heavy rain with thunderstorms and localised downpours, also strong winds.
Warnings and Watches for rain and wind are in force.
People are advised to keep up to date with latest forecasts.

Forecast: Periods of heavy rain with thunderstorms and localised downpours possible. Amounts may approach warning criteria and possibly exceed them in downpours.
